Kasshabog Lake in the 1970s and 80s

1970s Moores Bay Cottages

In the 70s, Keith and Janice Sinclair purchased Moores Bay Cottages that was a small 1.2 acre cottage resort on Kasshabog Lake. The cottage resort had 4 cottages and one home. Keith ran the resort but was also a Peterborough Police Officer.

The shoreline was unique as the east side of the shoreline was a large granite outcrop, the middle was sand and the west side was natural. Dad had a swim tower you could go out to jump off of in front of the large concrete dock that was there.

The house we lived in burnt down a number of years ago but this is what it looked like back then. My mothers black poodle is also seen in the picture.

One of my fathers best friends in the world was also a customer of his, John Sill. The Sills came to Kasshabog Lake from Rochester NY. The above picture is John Sill SR, John Sill JR and Keith Sinclair. Looks like they had a good day of fishing! i just love the handle bar moustache on John!

Above is our cottage. I still remember the lake number of H22. There was no phone (CB radio was the communication tool then) no septic, no docks when Dad purchased it in the 1980s. Dad did a ton of upgrades when he purchased the cottage including killing hundreds of mice, insulating, adding a bathroom and septic, bunkie and upgrading the driveway to name a few things completed. The cottage was torn down 15 years ago or so and a new building is there but the memories will last a life time!
